PROFILE:

The Mayfair Hotel

Customer: Mayfair Hotel

Description: Designed, fabricated and installed complete plumbing and HVAC systems in this total gut rehabilitation of a St. Louis landmark hotel. A design/bid job, high priority was placed on preserving the architecture of this historic high-rise structure. Both the plumbing and HVAC systems were adapted to meet a completely redrawn floor plan that converted 126 original rooms to 85 luxury suites. The penthouse included a new health club and a new swimming pool was installed on the roof.

Unusual Features: Modern HVAC and plumbing equipment and fixtures necessary for use in today's newer hotels had to be fitted into the smaller rooms and weaker floors of the old turn-of-the-century structure. Further, equipment access to upper floors was only through windows, limiting the size of equipment that could be used. Guest rooms were booked well in advance of the hotel's re-opening, requiring a tight schedule for completion.
